after a year-long hiatus to hang out and record our "comeback" podcast

A Special Announcement From The Otaku 5-0 Show
Aloha everybody...
It regrets me to inform you, but due to various issues, this season of The Otaku 5-0 Show's audio podcast has been brought to an abrupt end.
I cannot disclose specific details, but on behalf of the staff I would like to thank YOU - our audience - for your continued support of our endeavors thus far. While we will not be producing any podcast episodes for the foreseeable future, we will continue to post feature articles (including my forthcoming review of, "Stardust"). So please stay tuned!

We're still on hiatus, but...
Aloha everybody!
As we enter the last week of our hiatus, let me do some housekeeping procedures...
First, I am pleased to announce that Yoda from the original Star Wars trilogy (you know, the BETTER one) has edged out a victory over Doctor Who as the audience favorite to win a last-character-standing cage fight!
Second, I would like to inform all our fans that I will be once again heading to the cinema for my next "Tuesday Double Feature" outing. So stay tuned for my reviews for both "Hanna" & "Rango"!

No New Episode This Week, But...
Aloha everybody!
I regret to inform you that we are unable to upload a new episode of our podcast this week due to technical difficulties. But in the meantime I would like to take the opportunity to issue a personal statement regarding concern expressed over a comment made by Mr. A on our last podcast episode, equating Barnes & Noble to, "a Filipino library."
After discussions amongst the staff, we would like to issue an apology to anyone offended by that statement. We at The Otaku 5-0 Show have always sought a light-hearted approach to our weekly discussions, but there are times when things can go too far.
We do hope that you - our audience - will continue to support us when we return with new content starting next week. Once again, we offer our profound apologies.

It Came From YouTube, Part Five
Aloha everybody!
First off, I would like to announce the results of our poll regarding Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, Part I. In a convincing victory, "Thumbs Up" ended up with the lion's share of 7 votes out of 10 overall, with 2 votes for "Thumbs Down" and a single vote for "Thumbs Sideways". Thank you very much to all those who voted, and please continue to vote in all future polls on our site!
But first, a few announcements. Even though we at The Otaku 5-0 Show are officially on our winter hiatus, that doesn't mean that we're not keeping informed about the latest entertainment news. For those who follow our Facebook page, we continue to post applicable tidbits for specific entertainment-related items that we have taken an interest in.
I am also pleased to announce that we have recently recorded an audio commentary for, "The Last Airbender" featuring myself, Jupiter, Mr. A, Maka & Jam. In an effort to stagger our post-season content, the commentary will be uploaded in the next few weeks.
But until then, let me take this opportunity to present the actually fulfill the title line of this article by presenting the latest installment of, "It Came From YouTube!"
As you are well aware, thanks to the efforts of my colleagues Mr. A & Jam, I have recently become a fan of the seminal British TV Series, "Doctor Who." One day, while surfing YouTube, I came across this fan-made music video featuring events from the most recent series. I now submit it to you for your enjoyment.
Earlier this year, Mr. A ended up house-sitting for Jupiter while she and her family were on a trip to the Mainland. Inevitably, the rest of the Otaku 5-0 staff ended up staying in the house for varying periods of time. During that period, not only did we end up recording a lot of "Unplugged" episodes, but we also got a chance to hang out as friends. During one such gathering, we ended up in collective stitches after watching this video. Therefore, I submit this for your enjoyment.
Now, everybody has a very specific sense of humor. Different things are funny to different people, so you might not find this next video funny. You may not believe me, but what I am about to say is completely honest. After viewing this for the first time, I was laughing at my computer for a solid minute. Enjoy!
Our final video for this installment features the talents of musician/comedian Stephen Lynch, who performs a song that pretty much encompasses my life from the age of 14. Hmm... Should I be amused or worried?

We are now officially on iTunes, we have had many people ask for this upgrade and we are proud to tell you that you can now subscribe and download through iTunes. Its easier than ever to share us with your friends so get sharing!

No new episode this week, but...
Aloha everybody!
I regret to inform you that there will be no new episode of our audio podcast this week, due to a staff meeting for a 2010 Kawaii-kon event (more about that later. I promise.) However, I would like to offer a bonus installment of my feature article series, titled, "It Came From YouTube!"
This edition will focus on TV commercials, past and present. The first clip is a commercial for GLAD freezer bags, with a catchy, funky beat.
The events of the next commercial for Captain Morgan's rum provide a textbook definition of the word, "Assist."
I found this next commercial for Bud Light hilarious, and an answer to the question, "What would you do for a Bud Light?"
Old Spice and its commercials have become a cultural juggernaut in recent years, starting from its first commercials featuring Bruce Campbell of, "Evil Dead" fame. However, this commercial may end up being their best yet.

Revised Otaku 5-0 Audio Commentary Lineup
Aloha everybody!
After some degree of thought, I have decided to revise the lineup for our future Otaku 5-0 audio commentaries:
November - Ghostbusters & Ghostbusters 2
December - Big Trouble In Little China
January - Monty Python & The Holy Grail
February - My Neighbor Totoro
March - Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets
May - Airplane!
June - The Seven Samurai
Future possibilities include: Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Transformers, Akira, Back To The Future, A Night At The Opera
As you can see, we have quite an interesting mix of movies coming your way (I just hope that we can pull this off.)

Re: Project Green Harvest
Aloha everybody!
After some conversations with our technical staff, I am saddened to announce that we will not be able to upload the remaining footage from our first Otaku 5-0 video episode at this time.
However, this DOES NOT mean that Project Green Harvest is dead. Far from it.
In fact, during this post-production process, the minor difficulties we encountered have already been addressed, and so I continue to remain confident that we will be able to include more video episodes of Otaku 5-0 as we continue into our 4th season.

Project: Green Harvest
Aloha everybody!
Over the past few months you've probably heard me mention something on our audio podcast episodes called, "Project: Green Harvest." I apologize for keeping everyone in the dark about it, but I am pleased one of its objectives has become a reality - we have recorded our first full-length VIDEO episode of Otaku 5-0!
While we all applaud finally stepping into the 21st Century, I would like to specify that with every first attempt, there can be any number of glitches. So, I would like to send a heartfelt mahalo to all Otaku 5-0 staffers who were present at last night's recording session for their patience. Particularly, I would like to thank Maka (Technical Director) and Titus (Technical Director) for their hard work in keeping whatever glitches we had to a minimum.
Now, because of time restrictions (a YouTube clip must be a maximum of 10 minutes long), only a small portion of last night's footage can be uploaded. Though at some point we will bring you the entire format of that episode in its entirety, please enjoy the clip below:

Due to some scheduling conflicts, we will be unable to record an episode of Otaku 5-0 this week. But, do not despair!
I am putting the finishing touches on a trio (that's THREE) film-related feature articles that I hope will prove entertaining and informative. Stay tuned over the next few weeks to this site as they are released.
Additionally, although I have announced that we will be recording an audio commentary for Dragonball: Evolution on September 24th, I have also determined the next few movies in the commentary lineup. Here they are:
- The Rocketeer (Recording Date: October 15, 2009)
- Big Trouble In Little China (Recording Date: November 19, 2009)
- Ninja Scroll (December 17, 2009)
- Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (Recording Date: January 21, 2010)

Last week Wednesday (9/9/09, in case you were curious), my brother and sister-in-law became the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl (whom I shall nickname, "Hunny Pot"), which means that I am also a proud uncle!
